The Arnold Palmer Scholarship Fund was established through a lead gift from golfing legend Arnold Palmer. Annual outflows of the endowment will be used to subsidize participant fees, purchase equipment, and provide transportation to ensure that The First Tee of Central Florida is able to maintain the policy that no child ever gets turned away for an inability to pay. The First Tee of Central Florida is committed to growing the fund to over $1,000,000 .
Since 2013, the proceeds from Swing for the King contributed $80,000 to the Arnold Palmer Scholarship Fund
The First Tee of Central Florida is a chapter of The First Tee, a youth development organization that uses the game of golf as the context to teach young people core values, life skills and healthy habits. Each player will hit a tee shot from the teeing ground, then the team members choose the best of the four shots for the next shot. All players then play the second shot from that location and play their own ball until it is holed. The two best net scores will count toward the teams score.
